about my work
as a director…
my voice is deeply grounded in reality but elevated by the belief that the emotional life within every single one of us is enough to reveal the most explosive universal truths. i’ve applied that in my narrative work, in my documentary work and in my digital content development work. i’m also heavily influenced by my culture, my latinidad, my language and my world view as a queer immigrant man from venezuela. i gravitate towards the human interest angle in the stories i’ve pursued in my documentary work, regardless of which vertical they live in: art, design, environmental & social issues. my visual style is predicated on the immediacy of human connection and the beauty we can extract out of the reality that surrounds us no matter how ugly it may seem on the surface.
and as a producer…
to me, it’s important to balance production value, efficiency and economy with quality storytelling and emotional impact. as supervising producer at complex, i co-created scripted & unscripted shows like ‘360 with speedy morman’ and ‘day in the life,’ as well as show-running multiple series orders like ‘release roundup’ and get in line.’ towards the end of my tenure, i had piloted a new multi platform franchise that has been a game changer for complex as a brand called ‘complex brackets.’ my work at complex news was nominated for a streamy award in 2020 and i’ve worked with some of the most prestigious clients such as mcdonalds, lexus, old spice and ea.
